Venice Florida is not, at least not yet, the worldwide center for the design, development, and manufacturing of Integrated Circuits. But, as the globalization of the industry proves, it is not important where one is, it is important what one can produce. The view from Silicon Beach is unimpaired by mountains, valleys, forests, and boulders: a perfect place to ponder the panorama, to correlate happenings, to extrapolate the future.
Editorial articles, from either myself or guest editors, have often been lost in the stream of industry news published on GABEonEDA's main page. Readers have taken the time to tell us so. The new section will group editorial articles and viewpoints in an easily identifiable page. The contents will be both original as well as references to pieces published in other electronic publications. As the EDAMarket service proves, a reasoned collection of work from a network of editors and analysts is a very effective information provider.
The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language defines a blog as "an online diary, a personal chronological log of thoughts published on a Web page". What you will find in "Blogs from Silicon Beach" is not this type of content. Yet, the term blog seems to have a much larger definition, and not only in our industry. It is now synonymous to "editorial" or even "syndicated column". The contents of "Blogs from Silicon Beach" will be equivalent to the latter definition. Look for the new section on the left side of the home page of GABEonEDA, beginning on July 14th: Vive la Liberté.
