IEEE Council on EDA Elects Officers to Two-Year Term

Cadence Fellow and Director, Cadence Laboratories Andreas Kuehlmann will become president of the IEEE Council on Electronic Design Automation (CEDA) January 1, 2010. He succeeds John Darringer, director of the Design Automation Department at IBM Research, who served in the role for two years and will become past president.

Additional members of Kuehlmann’s team include Professor Donatella Sciuto from Politecnico di Milano in Italy, who will become president-elect, and William Joyner, director of Computer-Aided Design and Test at Semiconductor Research Corporation, who will become secretary.

Sani Nassif, manager of the IBM Austin Research Laboratory, will serve as vice president of conferences. Professor David Atienza Alonso from the Department of Computer Architecture and Automation at Complutense University of Madrid was elected vice president of finance.

Professor Rajesh Gupta from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of California, San Diego, will remain as vice president of publications. Shishpal Rawat, director of electronic design automation (EDA) investments for Intel Corp., will continue in the role of vice president of technical activities, a position he has held for one year.

Each will serve as a CEDA officer for a two-year term that begins January 1, 2010, and runs through December 31, 2011.
